Expo Lounge is a great place to meet friends, for a morning coffee or a lunchtime snack. Don’t be put off by the exterior (just a bit too rusty orange for my liking) as inside the decor is quirky and interesting with random pictures on the blood-red walls, and old-fashioned lampshades artily hanging from the ceiling. It’s spacious, perfect if you’ve got a pushchair in tow – the coffee is good and reasonably priced plus they’ve got loads of board games for kids. During the summer months there’s an al fresco feel when the windows are all open; ideal for a spot of people watching.
There’s plenty of choice for kids. ‘Little Loungers Menu’ (£4.95) includes basics such as sausages and macaroni cheese while a second menu, ‘Little Bit Bigger Loungers’ (£5.50), offers more grown-up fare of cheeseburger, falafel mezze or a cooked breakfast.
My kids love coming here for a frothy babyccino (75p) while I catch up with friends. It’s well worth sticking your head in- I’ve seen lots of mums hanging out here after local toddler groups. Beware though, there is a webcam above the bar streaming live online, so no fibbing to your partners about where you’ve been all day with the children!
