If, like my husband, you’re a fan of the Wanderers, then this Bolton cafe will be right up your street as most of the large glass windows overlook the Reebok Stadium at Middlebrook.
Luciano’s, a family-run Italian cafe, is good; really, really good. The menu is simple: sandwiches and paninis in the daytime, with a slightly extended choice for the evening. We were there at lunchtime and felt they’ve got it just right. It’s bright and clean, and very inviting with some lovely comfy sofas to relax on. Order at the counter and they’ll bring your food and drink to your table. There isn’t a separate kids menu, but Sam and I shared a shredded duck panini with a honey and teriyaki sauce (£4.95) which was excellent. If I’d had more time I would definitely have indulged in one of their yummy cakes. There’s also a selection of specials if you want something a bit more substantial.
Luciano’s has a lovely atmosphere, knocking the spots off other chain restaurants based at the shopping centre. It’s well used by mums and tots in Bolton, often busy midweek after local toddler groups. It also has an extensive cocktail list, I think I might have to go back to try out a couple…in fact I can see another book idea already!
