Tucked behind Piccadilly Gardens, on the corner of Fountain Street, this New York style diner is a real find. It’s reasonably priced, extremely popular and the food portions are huge!
We had a ten minute wait on a busy Saturday lunchtime, but the staff were very patient with our three rowdy boys whose football session had been cancelled and thus were on pretty hyper form!
The two older boys were wowed by the adult menu. Harry opted for New York Moose (Eggs Benedict on a bagel, with parma ham, and the hollandaise on the side!) while Sam had his favourite breakfast of all time (waffles with smoked bacon and maple syrup). Ted chose from the kids’ menu, which was perfect for him – promptly demolishing a full cooked breakfast. Ed and I decided to share a Mighty Moose, wrongly assuming that we’d also be able to tuck into the kids’ meals! (Two free range over easy eggs, with bacon and homemade potato hash, delicious!) The cafe also offers sandwiches, salads and burgers, but you really have to try their breakfasts. The coffee was good and the atmosphere fantastic – Moose is definitely my kids’ favourite place in town.
